16-year-old Patrick Kibble is set for the next round of British GT competition at Donington Park, as his debut British GT campaign continues this weekend.
Patrick and his TF Sport team-mate Josh Price will make the trip to the East Midlands to contest at the 2.5-mile Derbyshire-based track, where they will be hoping to bring home their first silverware of the season.
So far, 2019 has proved to be full of plenty of positives for Aston Martin Racing Driver Academy member. At the last round at Silverstone, Patrick set the quickest time in the GT4 qualifying session on what was only his second lap - an impressive performance from the Kent-born driver who was in the midst of sitting his GCSE exams.
This time ensured that he and Josh would start the British GT blue riband event from pole position and Patrick wrote his name in the record books as one of the youngest ever pole sitters in British GT. Unfortunately, after a strong start to the race, a series of drive-through penalties - due to no fault of their own - hindered the duo from getting their first win at the home of British motorsport.
Having lost out of good points at Silverstone, Patrick will be keen to bounce back at Donington Park this weekend in the season’s first two-hour race.
“It’s been a busy few weeks for me as I’ve still been taking my GCSE exams,” Patrick said. “I’m happy to have finished them and now I can focus entirely on racing, which is a good feeling!
“Silverstone was such a disappointment, although it was also full of lots of positives. Picking up my first pole felt very special. We need to move on from what happened in the race and carry the pace we had at Silverstone to Donington Park!”
This weekend’s action will begin on Saturday 22nd with a practice session at 09:40. The British GT qualifying will then take place from 15:35. On Sunday, the warm-up will be held at 09:40 before the 120-minute long race commences at 13:10.
